Whitetail Hunting Our whitetails have been under the management of TPWD for 15 years, creating a herd with a solid age structure, and a buck:doe ratio of nearly 1:1, providing the opportunity to look over many quality bucks during your stay at KCR. Being of Hill Country genetics, the reasonable hunter expectations should be for a mature (5.5 yr +) 8-10pt buck of 18-20 inches in spread and good tine length. Our whitetail hunts are challenging and rewarding. Additionally, COA offers youth & father/son doe hunts at reasonable rates throughout the season. Kent Creek Ranch is under the MLDP system, allowing whitetail hunting from Oct. 1st to Feb. 28th, with the prime times being during the rut which starts about the second week of November depending on weather and moon phase- continuing thru Thanksgiving, and again in late January and February as the bucks move into a regular feeding pattern to recuperate from the stresses of the rut. A valid Texas hunting license is required to hunt whitetails, but harvest tags are provided by the ranch, allowing you to keep your license tags for other hunting.
